Farewell, room 007.

It is time to pay tribute to my classroom. The fall semester is finished. By Monday I will have handed in grades and officially wrapped up my duties as a college instructor. I had a good bunch of students and enjoyed spending time with them each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday…since August! That’s crazy to think about — how fast it all went, and how much everyone learned about each other during that time.

This is room 007, in the basement of a building that looks like a castle. I got there early every day to arrange the desks into something resembling a horseshoe, apparently.

Room

I had to find a souvenir, and why not an object that has inspired two stories and countless minutes of pondering cleanliness? Behold, my muse, my light, my imagined body lotion…I present to you…ENDURE. Now I can have it with me for all time.

Endure!

(Special thanks to Creepy Green Obama and Padgett Powell’s Mini MoonPie for sneaking into that picture. That sums up my semester very well.)

Ahh, 007…a long way from the corporate conference rooms of two years ago.

Looks like the room gets a lot of sun for a basement room. Hope finals and grading and your own writing all went well!

Yeah, it’s kind of a neat room…below ground level, sort of, but the building is built into a hill so there’s some exposure. Kind of hard to explain.

Still grading to be done. And paper-writing, but it should all be over soon. I hope your first semester is wrapping up nicely!
