I think they have sour twizzlers. I tend to be in the know about sour candy, -- in fact, they do have Twizzlers Sourz, -- but they're bite sized and not full ropes. I've had them, but still prefer SPK or Sour Skittles. I think I need to break into something different -- I may be getting burn marks on my tongue.

I'm not so sure about those spiced chocolates. Something about the types I've tried clashes with my expectation of what chocolate should feel and taste like as I consume it. But the Venezuelan angle lends intrigue, like my Saudi Arabian Aeros.

Twizzlers! I'll add those to my to-do list. They need to make sour Twizzlers. Sour Patch Twizzles.

What is Sponge Candy?

Haven't started Dead Fish Museum yet. In fact, I don't have it at all yet. I need to place my next order. You'll have to come up with something for this week's Passages, which will be a special "Worst Passage/Quote/Whatever" edition. I'll try not to add snippets of local newspaper columns. :)

My desk drawer is full of classics: Strawberry Twizzlers and Reese's PB cups, the tiny ones. I might also buy Snickers or Butterfingers, Dove Caramels, Ghiradelli with almonds. I also practically believe that peanut M&Ms are a healthy snack, which is why they're what I'll buy if I have to settle for the vending machine.

Sponge Candy is always special, but that may be local.

Interesting that I have so much to say about candy, when I didn't offer a passage last week. But I'll tell you that the D"Ambrosio stories so far are wonderful, but Drummond & Son was so sad it was haunting. It wasn't any passage in particular, just the subtle and deft way he showed the relationship between the father and the hardworking son. Have you started the Dead Fish Museum yet? I'm really glad you had it on your list.

Let me open my drawer to see what goodies we might find... Sour Patch Kids. Jelly Bellies. Both thankfully dwindling, but taking surprisingly longer than a normal stash. Have I developed a stop mechanism when it comes to these items or have I just been in too many meetings? If they could combine the SPK with the JB, I would never be able to leave my office.

Chuao Bars -- one Chinita Nibs and one Spicy Maya. They're made in Venezuela, so I'm sure I'm being followed after buying them on sale at the Fresh Market. I haven't had the Chinita Nibs yet, but this is the second Spicy Maya -- it's better than some of the other spiced chocolates I have tried, so being labeled a friend of Venezuela is okay with me.
