The WordPress theme experiment is over, and I’ll write more about that endeavor tomorrow. I’m going to stay with what I have. If it ain’t broke, don’t break it.
Working on the site reminded me that a couple of people have asked about comment moderation. I added a line in the About section to clarify:
“Your first comment, or any comment with a link, will be moderated. Other than that you’re home free.”
I think it’s the part about links that caused confusion. That’s an anti-spam measure. There are enterprising individuals out there who like to use scripts to fill up blogs with spammy comments. It’s nothing exciting — just a bunch of the same product offerings you get in your e-mail account every day.
I might relax that rule because I find comment moderation tedious, both as a reader and a writer. When I submit a comment somewhere I want it to show up immediately. If it goes into a moderation queue I start to wonder. Will it ever show up? Will it be censored? Ignored? What if my insightful comment about the latest Avril tour never sees the light of day?
I hate to do that to commenters here. However, I work very hard and never ever abuse company resources. It’s difficult to “release” comments quickly. But until the spammers are all drawn and quartered that’s how it works…hope that helps explain any delays.
