This is going to turn into heavy book review week so I’ll start with something fun.
We took advantage of some warm weather and hit the beach this weekend. On Saturday there was a spooky mist rolling in off the ocean, so despite nearly full sun the visibility was low and anyone more than twenty or thirty feet away from you looked like a shadow.
Here’s what I mean:

That UFO in the picture is a kite. Not just any kite…it’s more of a super-kite. Some friends of ours are learning how to kiteboard, and what you see in this series is them showing us how insane that sport is and why hundreds of lives are lost each year in tragic kite-based accidents.
More pics (hosted on Flickr). We had the dogs out there…you can see them prancing through some of these.
Sunday was clearer and warmer. No pics but imagine running around in shorts and a t-shirt, temps in the 70s, and football on the beach.
I hope everyone up north is enjoying their blizzards and endless hours inside staring at each other.

Great photos. Of course I liked the one with Harrison best!
Yeah, he had a great time out there. Lots of dog buddies for him to meet.
Well, here in Buffalo are going to get Wii Kiteboarding and it will be better than the beach
That would eliminate the nasty problem of sand in the underpants.
